List of Naruto: Shippuden episodes (season 8)

The episodes from the eighth season of the anime series ''Naruto: Shippuden'' are based on Part II of the ''Naruto'' manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. The episodes are directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. The eighth season began airing on March 25, 2010 on TV Tokyo in Japan and finished airing on August 26, 2010. They are centered on Konohagakure invasion by Pain, leader of the criminal organization Akatsuki wishing to kidnap Naruto Uzumaki, the host of the powerful Nine-Tailed Demon Fox. The season is referred to by its DVDs as the chapter of . Aniplex released the six volumes between October 7, 2010 and March 2, 2011. While the volumes contains all the episodes, episodes 170-171 were skipped to the sixth volume.
On January 2, 2009 Viz Media and Crunchyroll began providing subtitled ''Naruto: Shippuden'' episodes.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Naruto.com, Crunchyroll, Hulu Begin Shippūden Streams )〕 The English dubbed version of this season premiered on February 16, 2013 on Neon Alley and concluded on March 30, 2013.〔http://updates.neonalley.com/neonalley_schedule.pdf〕
This season contains five musical themes: "Sign" by Flow is used as the opening theme until episode 153, where it was replaced by by Motohiro Hata. "For You" by Azu is used as the ending theme until episode 153, when it was replaced by by OreSkaBand until episode 166, where it was replaced by by Supercell. The fourth feature movie, ''Naruto Shippuden The Movie: The Lost Tower'', which is based on the ''Naruto: Shippuden'' series, was released on July 31, 2010. The broadcast versions of episodes 172 to 175 include scenes from the movie in the opening themes, while still retaining the music "Tōmei Datta Sekai".
